Breeding is a
demanding and long-term work. At the
beginning you can expect many mistakes and
errors that you cannot avoid no
matter how hard you try.
You have to learn that if you do not succeed in your effort immediately
it is not the end of the world. If
you do it is great but if not try
to understand why. Sometimes, it means to admit "I
made a mistake", sometimes "I really succeeded well" and
occasionally
"I was really
lucky".
Find the best advisor you can. Information is the
most valuable thing you can get. Invest your money and
try to get the best puppy for your breeding you can. Usually, you have to wait
a long time for such a pup, you cannot buy it round
the
corner from the first breeder and after the first phone
call. Ask the breeder about
reasons for choosing the
breeding pair parenting your new friend. Remember
that the number of pups bread does not have to mean the breeding pair was well
planned !
And what do we know about Ridgebacks now?
These times, there are about 58 wrong genetic
informations detected. Every single Ridgeback takes on the average 6,6 defective genes. Almost half of Ridgebacks - 45,8% takes genetic
defects. This is the thing that a good breeder tries to reduce. Do not think please that your dear is clear of defective genetic
informations!
I value breeding of unrelated pairs first
and foremost but despite that I do not object occasional exceptions in the form of line breeding. |
